Train to Glasgow

Image
Today I posted a video on my channel that features a pocket page layout.  The photos are from when I took the train between Edinburgh and Glasgow during my trip in April.  We took an early train, but not too early, as neither of us wanted to get up at the crack of dawn.  We did want to be in Glasgow by 10:00 a.m., however, as that was when the hop-on-hop-off bus got started for the day.  We decided to take a train that left just after 9:00 a.m., which had us at the Queen St. station in Glasgow in about 50 minutes.  That was a Monday, and at 9:00, there was plenty of room on the train.  We were on a Scotrail train, which seemed a bit more modern than the Virgin train we took up to Scotland from London. Since there was plenty of available seating, we chose to sit across from each other, with a table between us, next to a window.  We were able to get unobstructed views of the Scottish countryside as we passed by smaller towns on our way.  Spring had already arrived in Scotland, so ever

Tea shop inspiration

Today on my YouTube channel, I posted a video for a traveler's notebook layout I did.  I've been working through some photos from a photo walk I did in a nearby suburb; I believe that travel can encompass many things, as it doesn't always involve going hundreds or thousands miles away from home.  In this case, it was about 20 minutes from home.  This particular layout features photos about a tea shop.  Hope you enjoy it!

Last post about the 100 Days Project

Image
I'm finally made it to my closing post about my experience with the 100 Days Project.  Whew!  I'm covering days 96-100 here; I'm actually sad that it's ended.  I have found that I feel far more creative now than before I started the challenge.  I know many people who didn't make it all the way through, but I wholeheartedly took on my goal and achieved it.  My hope is that by completing those 100 days of doing something creative, the pattern will continue.  I don't want to give up my crafty time each day!  With that said, here's a recap of the last few days. 96)  I completed opening pages for my Family and Friend Adventures albums for 2016.  Yay! 97)  I posted a process video for a traveler's notebook layout.  This one used some cool embellishments that I've had lying around for a while.  You can see it below. 98)  I did a blog post.  Nothing too earth shattering, but I got it done. 99)  I posted an unboxing/review video of a scrapbooking k

Planning for NYC

Image
I am getting excited for my NYC trip next month.  Granted, it will be quick (not like the leisurely 5 day trip I did last time); I will basically only have 48 hours in the city.  However, since I don't have super-long list of must-do/must-see items, I think it is totally doable.  The main reason for going, similarly to last time, is to see a show.  Well, last time I saw 2 shows, but the point is, theater was the motivation for getting on the plane.  This time, I'm seeing the off-Broadway show " PUFFS: Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic ".  A bonus for me on this trip is that I now know someone who lives relatively close to the city.  I met this person through an online group that is scrapbooking-related; it happens that we share a love for Harry Potter and Harry Potter-related things.  So, she is going to come into the city to share the PUFFS experience with me.  Score!  She's also an art person.  I happened to mentio

100 Days Project Update - Days 91 - 95

Image
While the 100 Days Project has ended, I'm still catching up on posting about it.  Today I'm covering days 91 - 95. 91)  This was a busy day, so I didn't have much time to spare for crafty stuff.  I decided to download and edit photos I took recently at an orchestra performance. 92)  My Citrus Twist order arrived today.  I bought the Jameson kit (from January 2017) again, plus an extra stamp set.  When I had a monthly subscription with them, I received the Jameson kit, but I used almost all of it, so I decided to order it again.  So love it!  I even did an unboxing/review of it to encourage people to pick it up when it was on sale ($18, originally $36). 93)  For this day, I posted another process video using my photos from Edinburgh.  This one was still 6"x8" pocket pages, but it features photos that had a red and gold focus.  I really had to think about what I could use that would match with them, also because I had a receipt that I wanted to feature.  I

100 Days Project Update: Days 85 - 90

Image
Here's another update as I near the end of the 100 Days Project.  I am still so pleased that I decided to take on this challenge, as it has helped me to accomplish a lot of crafty stuff, and it has made me feel more creative in general. 85)  I am sooooooo behind on watching the videos I subscribe to on YouTube.  I decided to spend some time watching videos from Inkie Quill because those tend to be my favorites. 86)  I posted a process video featuring more 6"x8" pocket pages with MORE photos from Edinburgh.  Yes, still working on those photos. These photos were the last from the Scott Memorial and them moving away from Princes Street Gardens. 87)  It was a friend's birthday on this day; she's a crafty girl, too, so we decided to make a trip to a huge craft store that's about an hour away from where we live.  We took our time shopping in the store, and then we had lunch downtown in that city before we headed back home. 88)  I've been purchasing so

NYC is a go!

Image
NYC is a go!  I've been watching flight prices, as I normally do when I want to go somewhere.  Let's be clear: I am a budget traveler.  I don't make the kind of money where I can say, "Oh, that flight is $600, plus a fee for a bag, plus food on the flight?  Sure, that's fine."  Nope, that's not me.  I'm always hunting for the lowest prices on the routes I want and ways to avoid any extra fees.  I scored my flight to JFK for just under $200; with my back issues being worse lately, I did decide to pay the $2 for an aisle seat assignment so that I have more room to stretch a bit.  I know that the bag I'm bringing is small enough that it qualifies as a carry-on with this airline, so there's no extra fee there.  Woo hoo! View from Top of the Rock (from my trip in April, 2015) So, when I knew I could work this around my jobs in December, I went for it.  That's a great price for flying from MSP to JFK, and the timing worked well for me.  I
